It’s not WHAT you want, it’s how BAD you want it!

Every decision is a balancing act:  Effort vs Reward.

Making the decision to change, to go down a difficult path, means your reasons to succeed have outweighed your excuses to fail.  I’m still struggling with this myself, but every step in the right direction makes my resolve stronger for the next time.

Decision Choose Change or Same Old Street

I’ve read several books and articles about highly successful people and there’s one overwhelmingly common element:  they WON’T give up, and they refuse to listen to even one million “No’s,” or one million voices saying “you’ll never succeed,” all they know is ‘try again’.

We can only be responsible for our own paths, our own results, our own successes or failures.  In the end, reaching your goal will be that much more meaningful because it wasn’t easy.  The day I literally made it to the top of this mountain, healthy enough to return to snow skiing at 53 years old, was the day I quit listening to my own voice that said “you’re too old and overweight to get back in shape.”  Now all I hear is “what’s next?!”

Quality vs Quantity– What Makes Life Worth Living?

Source: Life Inseparable

Living according to the status quo means we slow down with age.  Such expectations become self-fulfilling if we believe them.  Fortunately, there’s always those who defy “the usual,” the heroes I like putting on my own vision board of the future.

Living with purpose and joy matters, at least to some of us, instead of merely existing.  What’s your plan??

Appreciate yourself first to Improve yourself

Appreciating your body means accepting yourself as is, being grateful for the simple gifts of breathing, moving, thinking. With appreciation comes a desire to give your body what it needs to function at it’s peak performance.  With this positive mindset, you may find exercise and proper nutrition is no longer a punishment, but rather a gift to say “thanks” to this amazing living machine!

Here’s some great Tips from MindBodyGreen.com to keep a positive body image

Limited Liberty—The “Career Woman”

Why it’s unnecessary for women to argue ‘career’ vs ‘stay at home’ vs having children at all… these labels do not define us. We should never put each other down anyway– every choice is difficult and comes with a price and a prize.

Why Learn to Meditate | How to Meditate.

Outside stressors cause inner turmoil, driving us to choose coping mechanisms which often become bad habits. Mine is binge snacking which makes me gain weight and worsens my stress!  Intellectually I know better, but the craving overwhelms me into making a bad choice in a moment of weakness. Weakness. Overwhelmed. Being controlled…. these words make me mad, mad enough to find a real solution!

I believe meditation is that solution. Instead of battling my body and its zany hormones head-on, I need to stop, breathe, focus, let my willpower take charge and make better choices.  I think Taylor Swift has coined the one-liner of a generation:  “Shake it Off” — it’s a great response to stress as well as a great song to play inside your head to drown out the negative noises.
